Nancy Katrina Brown, 57 of Hickory, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Born November 18, 1955 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of Doris Hart Brown and the late Thomas Jefferson Brown, Sr.
Ms. Brown was the Children's Librarian at Ridgeview Library; she has Masters Degrees in Library Science, and in Counseling, a Bachelors Degree in Religion, is a licensed Counselor, a Minister of Unitarian Church, and the founder of "Paws to Read".
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Dixon; and a brother, Richard Alan Brown.
Nancy is survived by her mother, Doris Hart Brown; her life partner, Debbie White; a brother, Thomas Brown Jr. and wife Donna all of Hickory and her beloved dog Percie.
The Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 6, 2012 in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Mary Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Humane Society, P.O. Box 63, Hickory NC 28603.
