Sayde B. (Hilton) Achinger, age 1, of Delta, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 6, 2010.
Sayde was born in Wauseon, Ohio on March 28, 2009, the daughter of Nathaniel Achinger and Charli Hilton.
Sayde lived and flourished in the love of many family members, including her mother, Charli Hilton of Delta and father, Nathaniel Achinger of Wauseon; great-grandparents, Ken and Kristina James of Wauseon; grandparents, Don and Dana Achinger of Wauseon; great-grandparents, Joseph and Gloria Drouillard of Toledo; grandparents, and Rick and Maria Hilton of Delta. Also surviving are her uncles, Christopher Hilton of Delta, Rick (Sheryl) Hilton of Guam, Maverick Hilton of Delta, Ben Achinger of Wauseon. Josh Achinger of Florida, and aunts, Tina (Jeff Mahr) Hilton of Genoa, Christina (Casey Sharples) Hilton of Swanton, Cassandra Hilton of Delta, Lonnie (Korey) Ladd of Delta, Gloria (Shawn) Matthews of Delta; very special cousins, Sarah, Jason, Derek, Nick, Regina, Mary, Tristan, Andrew, Chloe, Blake, Winston, Jacob, Paige, Wyatt, Jessie, Samantha, Summer, Dakota, Erin, Abbey, and Sarah; and her two best friends, Dylan and LilyAnn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Delta, with Pastor Donna Stutzman, officiating. Interment will follow in the Raker Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to family choice.
A 16-month-old girl was pulled from a pond at her home in York Township and taken by air ambulance Friday to Toledo Hospital, where she died, authorities said.
The toddler, Sayde Achinger of 12586 County Road B, wandered away from her home between 11:45 a.m. and noon, when she was discovered floating in the pond by her mother, according to Steve Kahle, a Lucas County coroner's investigator.
Another person at the residence pulled the girl from the water. She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:47 p.m.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday, Deputy Coroner Dr. Diane Barnett said.
