Robert Alan "Bob" Ambrose, age 56 of Frederick, MD died Friday August 8, 2014 at his home after having fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past eight years.
Born October 9, 1957 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Eliane E. (Lebraux) Ambrose of Greencastle, PA and the late Harold R. "Harry" Ambrose. He married his wife Joanne N. (Nelson) on February 5, 2005.
He had worked as a salesman for the former Routzahns Furniture of Frederick and last worked for Ashley Furniture also of Frederick where he had received the 2012 salesman of the year award.
Bob attended the Greencastle-Antrim High School and served briefly in the US Army. In his earlier years he had attended the Greencastle Baptist Church. He enjoyed pool shooting with his family and friends.
Surviving family in addition to his mother and wife are one son Matthew A. Ambrose of Chambersburg, PA, one daughter Mary Lynn of Shinglehouse, PA, three grandchildren, Kyle and Kala Summers and Jocelyn Mehl, three sisters, Shirley Keller of Hagerstown, MD, Elaine Ambrose of Stafford, VA, Sandy Poffenberger of Williamsport, MD, two brothers Gary Ambrose and Steve Ambrose both of Greencastle, PA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 13 at 11:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA with Rev. Don Woody officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 PM. Memorial contribution may be given in his memory to Hospice of Frederick County 516 Trail Avenue P.O. Box 1799 Frederick, MD 21702.
