Oscar Blue, 85, was born August 11, 1912 in Buena Vista, Georgia to the parents of Sim and Pearl Blue, both preceded him in death.
Oscar met and married Lillie R. Melvin on March 9, 1934. To this union six children were born, of which two preceded him in death.
While in Georgia, Oscar accepted and received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of William Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully until moving to Hamtramck, Michigan in 1950. Oscar attended the Leland Baptist Church and later became a member of New St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a usher until his health failed him.
Oscar was employed and retired from the Chrysler Corporation. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed watching and listening to sports of all sort.
Oscar leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and caring wife of 65 years, Lillie Ruth; daughters, Catherine Edge and Mary Kaigler; Eddie L. Blue (Barbara) and James E. Blue (Joycelyn); two sisters, Pearlene Perry of Ellaville, Georgia and Ella Mae Shelling of Columbus, Georgia; four sisters-in-law, Lucy Blue, Dessie Mae Blue, Margaret Thompson and Pauline Williams; one brother-in-law, Rev Yancey Melvin; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nephews, nieces, grand nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Service held; Saturday, April 25, 1998, 12 Noon Family Hour-1:00 P.M. Funeral at New Ebenezer Baptist Church, Detroit, Michigan, Rev. Wallace R. Mills, Jr., Pastor
