Born about February 1769, Philip Killinger -- at times listed as Kellinger -- died of that early manifestation of the Yellow Fever in Philadelphia. He was a carpenter by trade. His inscription reads:

In Memory of
PHILIP KELLINGER
who departed this life
November the 6th 1793
Aged 24 Years
and 9 Months.

A span is all that we can boast,
An inch or two of time;
Man is vanity and dust
In all his flower and prime.
Now I forbid my carnal hopes,
My fond desires recall;
I give my mortal interest up,
And make my God, my all.
