Died in Civil War skirmish near Kingston GA (Ohio Company A, 76th Regiment) leaving widow, Lucinda Downs Atwood, and three children.
Enlisted in Company A, Ohio 76th Infantry Regiment on 14 Dec 1863. Mustered out on 09 Aug 1864 at Atlanta, GA.
His marriage to Lucinda Downs was performed in Knox County, Ohio on 7 August 1858. After being widowed, she gave over guardianship of her three children from the marriage to Nathan Atwood. Daniel Cameron (Alexander Cameron's father) acted as guarantor for the guardianship papers.
His widow, Lucinda, subsequently married Alexander Cameron on 16 July 1874 in Holmes County, Ohio, and had four more children.
