Frieda H. Aegerter, 83, of Puget Island, died Jan. 23, 1998, at St. John Medical Center. She was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Courfaivre, Switzerland to Frederick and Rosa Schwab Wuhl.
She was raised and educated in Switzerland. She came with her husband to North America in 1948, first farming in Quebec, Canada until 1955, when they moved to Puget Island and established a dairy farm, which they worked together until 1974, when he retired. After his death, and she continued to operate the farm with her sons until mid-1980s. The farm, her family, and friends were most important to her. She was known as a wonderful cook, enjoyed working with flowers, and traveling. She made numerous trips to visit her family in Switzerland over the years, her last in the summer of 1997. She was a member of the Last Tuesday Club of Cathlamet, the Pinochle Club of Puget Island, and the Wahkiakum Historical Society of Cathlamet.
On April 9, 1938, in Switzerland, she married Gottfried Aegerter, who died in 1975. Deceased are 7 brothers and a sister.
Survivors include two sons, John and Fred Aegerter of Puget Island; a sister, Lydia Meichtry of Geneva, Switzerland; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews in Switzerland.
There will be no services. Dowling Funeral Home, Cathlamet.
