Birth: 1822
Gwinnett County
Georgia, USA
Death: 1845
DeKalb County
Georgia, USA

Eleanor Matthews was the daughter of Henry T. and Charity Matthews, and the first wife of William Akers. William and Eleanor had just one child, son John H. Akers, born about 1844. John was a private in the Co. K, 38th Georgia Regiment of the CSA, and was one of the 1300 Confederate troops killed at the Second Battle of Manassas. Eleanor herself died young as well, and it is presumed that she is buried somewhere in DeKalb County since that is where she and her husband lived. She could have been buried in her father's family cemetery (Matthews Family Cemetery in Gwinnett County), or possibly on her husband's land. If she had a gravestone, it has become illegible.
