Baxter Turner Duffy died Saturday morning at his home in Salem. He is survived by his wife, Ann Howell Duffy; three children, daughter, Carla Wyllie, Schenectady, N.Y.; sons, Douglas Chapman Duffy, Salem; Baxter Evan Duffy, Bloomingdale, N.J.; grandchildren, Hannah and Robert Wyllie. He is also survived by his sister, Mamie Duffy, Roanoke. Baxter was born in Salem on July 20, 1926. He was the son of William and Annie Duffy and the brother of George Chapman Duffy. He was a graduate of Richmond Professional Institute of the College of William and Mary in Richmond. He retired from the Grand Union Company in Wayne, N.J. after 32 years of service as assistant corporate secretary. He was a World War II veteran. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 1992, at 7:00 p.m. at West Salem Baptist Church, 500 Turner Road in Salem. The family requests that no flowers be sent, rather a memorial fund has been established in his memory at the Paramus Baptist Church at East 242 Midland Avenue, Paramus, N.J., 07652.
