"...William and Charlotte (Malone) Adams, who were born and raised in Washington County, Ky., he having been born in 1808 and she in 1811. Mr. Adams was a farmer, and came to Pulaski County, in 1833, his nearest neighbor being twenty miles away. He returned to Kentucky in 1840, remaining till 1843, when he returned to Pulaski County, his father coming with him, and settling on the Merrimac, in Dent County. He died August 18, 1885. He was a son of Coonrod and Rebecca (Hawk) Adams, who died in 1846 and 1848, respectively. They were about the first settlers of Dent County, and were of Dutch descent."

Charlotte Malone Adams was last noted in the Phelps Co. Census of 1 June 1860 (?) and William re-married 20 Dec. 1863 in Dent County. There is evedence to suggest that she actually died around 1853 and the "C. Adams" noted on the 1860 census was William's 2nd wife.

The Census of 1860 for Rolla Twp., Phelps Co., MO lists:
W. Adams, age 50 and C. Adams, age 50, J.N. Adams, male, 23; Sarah Adams, 16; Eliza Adams, 13; G.M Adams, 8, male. Son W.J. Adams, age 21 with S.M. Adams age 18 lived beside them.

Known children:
William Jasper Adams (born 16 May 1836, Pulaski Co., MO; described as the fourth of nine children)
J.N. Adams (son, born ~1837)
Sarah Adams (born 1844, MO)
Eliza Adams (born 1847, MO)
