Vira Ann, wife of L. H. Bouton was born in Oswego county, New York, April 8, 1825; was married to L. H. Bouton, September, 1847,lived in Ohio until 1855; moved to Kansas, October, 1857; came to Perry, Jefferson county, Kansas, March 1877, where the family now live. To them was born eight children-four sons and four daughters-all married, except the daughter Carrle who lives with the parents. All were present at the bedside of the mother when she breathed her last, except the eldest daughter who was absent on account of sickness.
Deceased was a very patient sufferer from chronic ailments of her body for many months. She bore her afflictions patiently until the end came, Sunday, July 23, at 11 o'clock a.m. when a kind, generous mother's heart ceased to longer beat.
The deceased was seventy-four years of age. Deceased was taken away by stomach, lung, kidney and bladder diseases. During her illness she was surrounded with many kind friends and affectionate children.
Funeral services were conducted at the home of the deceased, Monday at 2 p.m. by Rev. John Copley of Manhattan, Kansas, after which the remains were laid to rest in Oak Ridge cemetery near Perry.
