Victor Edward Anderson Jr. was born in San Diego, Calif., on Oct. 12, 1926, to Victor Sr. and Sybil Anderson. He passed away at the VA Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz., on July 28, 2008.
Vic attended many schools due to his father's Army career, and eventually graduated in 1944 from Fortier High School in New Orleans. That same year he enlisted in the Navy at age 17. He graduated from Arizona State University and moved to San Diego in 1948.
He worked as an aviation engineer at Convair Aircraft in San Diego. In 1963 he started his own printing firm in Phoenix and continued in this line of work until he retired.
Vic is preceded in death by his parents. He is succeeded by his wife, Mona, and extended family; his daughter, Kitty; his sons, Victor III and Michael; their spouses and children; and his brother, Ken.
Vic loved the beach and visited the San Diego area often. He also enjoyed playing senior softball and bowling, but above all, he loved working with students as a substitute teacher at the high school. He had a fantastic sense of humor and loved getting together with family members to talk and laugh into the night, often while playing cards. He was a kind and loving husband and father and was always there with advice and support.
A Celebration of Vic's Life Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave, Prescott.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veteran's Administration Hospice Unit, 500 Highway 89 North, Prescott AZ 86313, or Yavapai Regional Medical Center Hospice, 1003 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.
The family has entrusted final arrangements to the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott. Information provided by survivors.
