John T. Graeter 61, 219 S. Queen St. died at 5 p.m. Thursday at his home following an illness of five years. Mr. Graeter was employed by the American Railway Express Company in this city for many years and later was proprietor of "Weber in the Woods" for some time. There survives his wife, Laura E. Liller Graeter, and these children; Mildred M. at home, Ruth wife of Enos Kreider, Lancaster, Dorothy wife of Jack Haas, Manheim, John at home, Pauline wife of Lothar Thieme, Magdeburg, Germany. A brother, Charles, Lancaster, and three sisters. Mrs. W.G. Bartsch, and Miss Kathryn Graeter, Lancaster. Mrs. Henry E. Miller, Willow Street and Mrs. Christ (Grooms ?). Six grandchildren.
Daughter Pauline wife of Lothar Thieme, died in a bombing while living in Germany during WWII
John's parents were Charles and Maria (Rothfus) Graeter. They immigrated to York where John was born. Charles was a brewmaster at the York Brewery. The family then moved to Lancaster, where Charles work at either Haefner Brewery on Locust Street or at Springer Brewery. They lived on Chester Street, and attended St. Stevens Lutheran Church at the corner of Duke and Church Streets. Charles and Maria had the following children; John Theodore, Charles, Katherine, Louise, Mary, Anna, and Fred.
