Hattie is the third wife of Edward Levi Phillips. They moved from Hempstead Co, AR to Hobbs, Fisher Co, TX in the early 1900's. While there, Edward lost an infant daughter and his wife in 1909, his one-year-old son Connie Edward in 1909, and his 18-year-old daughter Alta Phillips in 1910. Hattie died of dysentery just 8 days after giving birth to a stillborn daughter. A Woodman of the World statue marks her grave and the grave of her two infant children. On the stone her husband had the following carved: Beloved wife of E.L. Phillips
"How desolate our home, bereft of thee."
