Fred Windel Hoddy, 83, of 303 South Tenth Street Died Saturday, May 14, 1988 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center
The son of Earl and Nannie Hoddy, he was born in La Harpe, KS on March 27, 1905. He had lived in the Ponca City area since 1924.
On June 8, 1925, he married Helen Rempe in Ponca City.
Mr. Hoddy was employed by the Marland Oil Company, and later by Conoco, Completing 43 1/2 years of service before retiring on April 1, 1970.
A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, he was also a member of Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed fishing and camping, and belonged to the Family Campers Group.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of the home; two sons, Joe and Chuck, and two daughters, Mary Ann Boor and Katie Brown, all of Ponca City; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John; a great-granddaughter; his parents and one brother.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 P.M. this evening at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at St. Mary's with the Rev. Ernest A. Flusche, and the Rev. Edward Weisenburger as celebrants. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Leonard McKeever, Frank Koster, Jack Monsour, Fred Spellman, John McKee, and Ray Ramsey. Honorary casket bearers will be John Gower, Bob Heinen, Fred Simmons and Floyd Neal.
A memorial has been established in Mr. Hoddy's name with St. Mary's Catholic Church.
