Helen A. Bartek, 85, of Wahoo, formerly of Touhy, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at
St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln.
She was born Sept. 10, 1920, in rural Touhy to Joseph and Aloisa (Divis) Benes.
She attended country school east of Touhy. After she was in eighth grade, her
family moved to the Agnew area. She married Adolph A. Bartek on March 30, 1948,
in Agnew. After they married, the couple lived on their farm near Touhy. She
moved to Saunders County Care Center about a year after her husband died in
2002.
She was a member of St. Vitus Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society and
Catholic Workman Branch 187.
Survivors include: seven sons, Bernard (and wife, Margaret) of Yutan, Duane (and
wife, Nancy) of Daykin, Michael (and wife, Lori) of Lincoln, Stephen (and wife,
Janet) of Valparaiso, Paul (and wife, Adele) of Lincoln, Patrick (and wife,
Loraine) of Weston and Gerard (and wife, Nancy) of Olathe, Kan.; two brothers,
Dennis Benes of Lincoln and Adolph Benes of Agnew; 25 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son, a grandson, a great-grandson and a
sister.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Touhy
with the Rev. Thomas Brouilette officiating. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
Friday at the church. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Friday at Svoboda Funeral Home
in Wahoo. Visitation will continue one hour before each service at the church.
Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery in Touhy.
A memorial will be established.
