Marion Bayard Taylor Allen was born Mar 21, 1858, in Putnam County, Indiana, to parents William Wallace Allen (1826-1890), and Mary Ann Evans (1828-1902), both born in Kentucky. Marion was the 6th child in a family of twelve children. His brothers and sisters were: Charles Silas Allen (1848-died young), Sarah Alice Allen (1850-), Joseph Milton Allen (1853-1928), Dillard C. Allen (1854-), William Evans Allen (ca 1857-), Lou Emma Allen-Baker (ca 1861-), Ida Dooley Allen (ca 1862-) Jessie Cora Allen (ca 1864-), Effie D. Allen-Church (ca 1867-), Myrtle Leach Allen-Huffman (1869-), and John Slavens Allen (ca 1872-), all born in Putnam County, Indiana.
On May 26, 1886, Marion married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Priest, born in Indiana (1862-1890), a daughter of Joseph and Sarah Priest. There were no children in this marriage.
On Sep 9, 1903, Marion married the second time to Elwood Scobee, born in Kentucky (1868-1958). Elwood was a daughter of James Washington Burroughs Scobee (1830-1893), and Sarah Elizabeth Jane McIntire (1836-1925), both born in Kentucky.
Marion and Elwood settled into a life of farming in Putnam County, Indiana, and had one son, Bayard Scobee Allen (1905-1990).
Marion died May 27, 1917, in Greencastle, Indiana, and both he and his wife Elwood are buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery in that city.
