Nancy Dorabelle Fertig was born Apr 1888, in Kittson County, Minnesota, to parents David William Fertig, born in Indiana (1853-1913), and Emeline Emma Olson, born in Sweden (1861-1948). Dora was the third child in a family of 10 children. Her brothers and sisters were: Mamie C. Fertig-Horne (1885-1978), Jacob Stanton Fertig (1886-1957), Walter William Fertig (1891-1959), Ingri Fertig (Died in infancy), Charles Alexander Fertig (1893-1964), John Laurence Fertig (1896-1942), Anna L. Fertig-Hansen (1898-), Mabel Irene Fertig-Smilanich (1901-1985), and Ellis Raymond Fertig (1906-1993), all born in Minnesota.
Dora was raised in a life of farming in Kittson County where she was also a teacher in the public schools.
About 1914, Dora married Royden William Belcher, born July 1, 1890, in Mexico (later the state New Mexico). He was a son of Charles W. Belcher, born in Pennsylvania (1855-), and Mary Jane MNU Belcher, born in Minnesota (1857-).
During their marriage Royden (Roy) and Dora lived in St. Louis, Pennington, and other counties in Minnesota, where Roy worked as foreman on bridge construction. They raised three known children: David William Belcher (1916-1990), Leona Faye Belcher (ca 1921-), and Royden A. Belcher (1925-), all born in Minnesota.
Dora died on May 2, 1939, in Pennington County, Minnesota.
