|Death: ||Oct. 1, 1871|
Ida Holder was born about 1854 to Wilson Holder (b: 1814) and Rebecca Muse (b: 1804). The Holders came to Cherokee County, Texas, from Franklin County, Tennessee.
When she was just 15 years old she married Henry Andrew Couch. Henry Andrew Couch had returned from fighting in the Civil War only two or three years prior to marrying Ida Holder on 12 November 1867.
Henry Andrew Couch and Ida Holder had the following children:
(1) Mary Elizabeth (Mollie or Molly) Couch, born: 3 March 1868 (death certificate indicates she was born on 1 March 1869); died: 31 December 1955. Mollie Couch married John W. Cowan on 24 December 1885.
(2) Thomas William Couch, born on: 27 January 1871 in Griffin, Cherokee County, Texas; died on: 25 February 1907 in Van Zandt County, Texas. Thomas William Couch married his first wife, Ella Riggle, (b: 1874 in Hamilton County, Texas; d: 21 Mar 1897 in Hamilton County, TX) on 24 July 1892 in Hamilton County, Texas. Ella Riggle died on 21 Mar 1897, after the birth of their son, William Floyd Couch. Thomas William Couch married his second wife, May Pruitt, in Van Zandt County, Texas.
Ida Holder died on 1 October 1871 of post-partum depression.
Ida Holder is buried in the Couch Historical Cemetery in an unmarked grave. The grave is next to where her husband, Henry Andrew Couch, was buried before his body was moved to Kerens City Cemetery and re-buried next to his second wife, Fannie Geneva Hardgrave Couch. The only marker on the grave when Henry Andrew Couch's body was removed was his Civil War memorial stone. The stone was moved to Kerens Cemetery.
