Ralph Emerson Alvord, the son of Roy and Mattie Eychner Alvord, departed this life on Wednesday morning, Jan. 23, 1985 at the Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, Kansas. He was bron on the family farm southwest of Jewell, Kans,. on May 8, 1908. Ralph was 76 years old.
Ralph attended the one-room rural school and worked on the farm with his father, Roy. On April 7, 1950 he was united in marraige to Marie Mongold in Beloit. His entire life was spent on the farm, the same farm on which he was born.
As a hobby, Ralph collected and worked on radios. He received his training by a correspondence course, and through the years he acquired an extensive collection of old radios.
He leaves his wife Marie of the home in Jewell County, a daughter, Leota P., also of the home; a son, Charles M. and his wife Rosemary of Hutchinson; and two grandchildren, Jeromy R.and Jerrad D. Alvord of Hutchinson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Oakley.
Rev. Mac L. Lee of the First Christian Church, conducted funeral services on Saturday, Jan. 2
6, at 11 a.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home. Music was furnished by soloist, Mrs. Helen Wesselowski and organist, Mrs. Cleo Riley.
Casket bearers were Clyde Bean, Urias Bean, Edwin Duskie, James McMillan, Jerry Porter and Elwyn Topliff.
Interment was made in the Elmwood Cemetery, Beloit.
