Gerald Dean Adams
Gerald Dean Adams, 56 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Leconte Medical Center in Sevierville, TN following a brief battle with lung cancer.
Born in Kingsport, Gerald had lived in Church Hill for most of his life. He was a 1972 graduate of Church Hill High School and retired from AFG – Greenland Plant after 30 years of service. He attended Freedom Baptist Church when his health permitted. Gerald was an avid NASCAR fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Adams in 1975 and Lois Ferrell Adams in 2005, as well as, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gerald is survived by his daughters, Mrs. April Dawn Barrett and husband Shannon and Ashley Adams both of Church Hill; grandson and light of his life, Gabriel; stepsons, Randy Collier and family of Surgoinsville and Billy Collier of Rogersville; sister, Mrs. Lois Mills and husband Wayne of Church Hill; nieces, Brandy Mills of Church Hill and Courtney Mills of Kingsport; great nieces, Taylor, Allie and Sydney.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill, TN.
A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andy Sensabaugh officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Orfield and Wayne Mills. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.
The family would like to thank Dr. W. Michael Smith, Dr. Steven Baumrucker, Amedisys Home Health and Wellmont Hospice.
