Eleanor was born on September 18, 1913 to Henry Habben and Millie (Schubert) Habben in rural Franklin County, Nebraska, she was the youngest of seven children. She was baptized October 19, 1913 and confirmed May 23. 1926 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church near Wilcox, Nebraska. Eleanor attended St. John's Parochial School in her early years, where many classes were taught in German. She graduated from Wilcox High School in 1931.
On February 20, 1935 she married Earl R. Anderson and they made their life together on a farm near Wilcox, Nebraska. In 1972, when Earl's health made it impossible for him to continue working the farm, they moved to Hastings, Nebraska. After his death, Eleanor began her first job outside of the home. She worked the next 9 years in various positions at the Hastings High School Cafeteria. After retiring she volunteered at the Martin Luther Thrift store and Mary Lanning Memorial Health Center. Eleanor was recognized by the hospital for volunteering over 2000 hours as a Pink Lady. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings. In later years she took great pleasure in reading and working crossword puzzles. Friends and family remember her for her compassionate listening without judgment or advice and being so easy to talk with. She always put others needs before her own.

Ag 97 years, 5 months and 28 days, following a brief illness, God called his faithful servant home. Eleanor is preceded in death by, her parents, 5 sisters, 1 brother, her husband and 2 grandsons, Bruce Allen Anderson and Steve Larsen.
