Birth: 1770, USA
Death: 1845
Licking County
Ohio, USA

Johannes Dusthimer (spellings vary) married Mary Magdeline PRILL (or some variation of PRILL / BRILL) in Loudoun County Virginia around 1795.

We have good evicence that Johannes' father was Jacob Dusthimer and mother was likely [evidence from a deed] Elizabeth ULLAM. I believe they came to America
I found a boat record for a Jacob Dustheimer coming to America in 1764 as a single man on Nov. 5, 1764 from the Ship Prince of Wales, James Edgar, Master, from Rotterdam , last from Cowes .--131 passengers.

We also have good evidence that Jacob had at least two sons Johannes and Carl (Charles) and I beleive these are the two Dusthimer brother who can to Ohio about 1809.

Birth date of Johannes is a guess based on birth date of his first born child.

Johannes and Mary came to Licking Co. in 1809 from Virginia. By 1825 Johannes (John) owned 380 ac of land in Franklin Twp., Licking Co. Ohio. His property was only about a mile from the farms of Robert and James ORR, early settlers coming to the contiguous Bowling Green Twp. in 1804. John and Mary Dusthimer had nine children. Interestingly FIVE of them married ORRs, children of James or Robert ORR.

Johannes and Mary M. (Prill) Dustheimer had nine children:

She writes, [Spelling, grammar, and punctuation is hers as best I can discern]
"Among the earliest of my recollections are the reminiscences of our father concerning our great grandparents Johannes and his good wife Mary Madeleine Prill Dusthimer. that they were of German descent cannot be denied, that the name is a German name, and it has been said that those having the affix "heimer" attached is indicative of a former residence on the Rhine. Be that as it may, we are surely related to the Germans since the late world war with Germany it has not been considered much of an honor to be so related. However, several years ago, to be made in Germany, or educated there was quite the thing. Many American citizens did not think their education complete unless finished in Berlin. So claiming that nationality as ours was considered quite honorable.

Our great-grandfather emigrated from Louden County, Virginia to Licking County, Ohio, and settled on a farm, (then all in woods, I suppose) north of Linville now owned by the heirs of Leroy Orr, and was known many, many years as the old Dusthimer homestead. [End of page 1]
Page 2:
There they reared quite a family of four sons and five daughters. It is a query in my mind [?] Dustheimer and Orr were all the families living around there in those days for we find that five of the Dustheimers married Orrs. Mary (Aunt Polly) married Zachariah Orr, and Elizabeth (Aunt Betty) married James Orr, two brothers. Margaret (Aunt Peggy married Peter Orr, and Sarah (Aunt Sally) married Benjamin [Orr], two other brothers. Catherine (Aunt Katie) however married Elisha Bonham, a [p?ehoolm??] of the hickory and birch rod fa[?].
The sons Anthony, Jacob and John lived to bring up quite large families but Charlie died young in life.
