Bill was the oldest child of Harvey Leon(5/13/1887-8/2/1973)and Cecilia Magdelin Herbert(1/24/1898-10/3/1982) Jewson. His twin sister, Barbara Catherine(1922-1922), died at birth and is buried in the Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato, Minnesota where her Grandfather, William Fuller Jewson(2/1/1842-12/2/1930)was the Superintendent. The family moved to Rochester, Minnesota in August of 1930 where Bill finished his schooling and entered the US Navy. He became ill while in the Navy and was returned home. He married Ruth Marie Kirkeeng(6/10/1934-) January 5th, 1946 and they settled in Faribault, Minnesota where they raised their six children: Mary, William, Gary, Barbara, Pamela and Scott. During this time, Bill was the manager of the Kirby Vacuum Company in Faribault. The family moved to Rochester in 1962 and remained there until 1977 where Bill was the manager of the Jewson Kirby Company with his father, Harvey Leon Jewson(5/13/1887-8/2/1973) In 1977 it was deemed advantageous for his health for them to move to Mesa, Arizona. On December 14th of 1982, he died in Kansas City, Missouri at the home of his oldest son, Bill of widespread cancer.
My fondest memory of Uncle Bill is going to their home for family gatherings. There was a lot of us and it was always a wonderful time. In fact, our oldest son, Brice, took his first steps there. He had to call my Dad to be sure he knew that HE had seen those first steps FIRST! :)
Uncle Bill's funeral was held at the Christ United Methodist Church here in Rochester, Minnesota and he is buried here in the Calvary Cemetery.
Note: Also buried in this cemetery are his parents, Harvey Leon(105880848)and Cecilia Magdelin (105880758)Jewson, his sister, Genevieve (105879788) & her husband, Richard Mohlke (105879908), his brother-in-law,(my Dad) William M Keehn (42692015), and my husband, Dennis Silvernail (71877933). His twin sister, Barbara Catherine is buried in the Glenwwod Cemetery in Mankato, Minnesota.
