The son of Samuel Frederick DeBary & Julie Scherpenhauser. Adolphe had a strong physical resemblance to his father. He & his sister , Eugenie became the inheritors of there father's business & estates. Adolphe DeBary for many years had managed his fathers importing firm and after his father's death in 1898 he became the firms owner. The company continued to prosper under his capable management. Sometime between 1871 & 1872 he had married his wife , Augusta Rawson Cecil and together they would have four children. During the 1880's Adolphe had a new home constructed in Summit , New Jersey where his family would later reside. Adolphe had traveled quite extensively during his life and had spent almost every winter with his family at the Debary Hall Winter retreat in Debary , Florida. At the time of his father's death , the Great Florida Freeze of 1898 & 1899 destroyed Debary's Citrus Industry & Groves. Adolphe retired from the importing firm in 1915. Sadly , Adolphe outlived all four of his children. He died at the home of his son-in-law in Bernardsville , New Jersey. Two of his grandchildren , Adolphe DeBary Lyon & Leonie DeBary Lyon became the next inheritors.
