Mrs. Mildred Beltman, age 83, of Alton, passed away Friday, July 17 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Mildred was born December 26, 1903 at Alton, the daughter of Gerrit Ruisch and Maria Fredriks Ruisch. She was married to Gerrit Beltman at Alton on November 29, 1923. For the first five years of their marriage they farmed near Orange City. From there they moved to a farm south of Alton where they lived until retiring into town in 1965. Mr. Beltman passed away March 29, 1968 at Alton.
Mrs. Beltman was a member of the Alton Reformed Church where she had been an organist and was active in Reformed Church Woman. For 17 years she was a cook at the Maurice-Orange City Community Schools.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Frances) De Jong of Alton; Mrs. Bert (Arlene) Gesink of Ornage City and Myrna Beltman of Alton; one son, Orville Beltman of Orange City; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Edward Ruisch of Sioux City, and Robert Ruisch of Waterloo.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Frances.
Memorial services were held Monday, July 20 at the Alton Reformed Church with the Rev. Raymond G. Tilstra officiating. Interment was prior to the service at Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
