Death: Aug. 12, 1946

Mrs. G.H. (Henry) Aalders passed on at Alton Monday morning, August 12. Although a semi-invalid, her death came as a shock to her many friends here. She was a member of the pioneer Scholten family, coming to the Alton vicinity with her parents in 1872 when just an infant. Her whole life was spent in this community, where she reared a fine family and was loved by many friends.

Maria Elizabeth Scholten was born in Chicago, Illinois April 23, 1871. She was 75 years, 3 months and 19 days of age at the time of her death. She was only six months old when her parents brought her to Sioux County, Iowa, where she spent the remainder of her life.

In 1898 she was united in marriage to Henry Aalders, and to this union were born three children: William of Sacramento, California; Grave of Ashland, Oregon, and Dick of Alton. She is survived by her husband, three children, and four grandchildren: Dudley Aalders, Michael, Diane and David Grant.

She came from a family of ten children, three of whom preceded her in death in infancy and Hattie, who passed away in 1941. Surviving are: Mrs. J.C. Cambier (Dena) of Alton, Evert of Sheldon, Dick of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Burt of Holland, Michigan, and Henry of Boyden.

Mrs. Aalders had been in failing health for some time but her final illness lasted only two days. She had spent the last several weeks at the home of her sister, Mrs. Cambier, awaiting completing of the new home they were constructing in Alton.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Aalders of Sacramento, California, and Mrs. Leslie Grant and son, David of Ashland, Oregon were en-route to Iowa at the time of their mother's passing. Her husband was at her bedside.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 15, at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Mrs. J.C. Cambier and 1:30 p.m. at the Reformed Church. Six nephews will be pallbearers: Wm. Cambier, Richard Cambier, Orville Cambier, Donald De Boer, Chester De Boer and Bernard De Boer. Rev. Hesselink will officiate.

Mrs. Richard Cambier, Miss Virginia Camber, Mrs. Fred Eason and Mrs. Ralph Menning will sing two chosen hymns: "Does Jesus Care: and "God Will Take Care of You." Mrs. Stewart De Groot will accompany them.
