Birth: Aug., 1896
New York, USA
Death: May, 1984
Batavia
Genesee County
New York, USA

"Captain Eddie" made 3253 recorded parachute descents from hot air balloons. He was an "Honorary Life Member" of the "Balloon Federation of America" Montgolfier Diploma. Worked for "Lucky-Teteer's Daredevil Thrill Show, and "Joie Chitwood Thrill Shows. He worked off season as a shoemaker and owned a gas station.
Edward and Edgar were red-haired twins. The twins began their daredevil stunts at age 15. They would perform a double parachute suspension, each with trapeze bar beneath the balloon basket. The boys would hang from their knees and do stunts on the bar. When the hot air balloon attained a certain height, they would cut themselves loose from the trapeze bar and parachute to the ground. The twin boys performed hundreds of times, including the NY World's Fair.
The children of Edward "Bill" "Capt. Eddie" ALLEN carried on the tradition and performed many daring ballooning acts.
From Balloon Life magazine's Wilfred Rauber - "This Genesee County community, Batavia, became training center when the third generation of Allens reached flying age. Furthermore it served as the proving ground for equipment refinements and dramatic innovations in technique." "Glamorous fledglings these, the third generation of flying Allens. Their colorful exhibitions hold an outstanding spot in the history of ballooning."

Sweet Louise Brundage was Ed's wife. Originally from Scranton PA, she was the daughter of Orrin J Brundage and Mary Myer. She was the secret force behind the man.

Rest in peace dear folks.
