John Wesley Bane, son of John and Anna Bane, was born in Smith county Kansas, northwest of Cedar, Feb'y 7th., 1887, and departed this life July 25, 1945, at the age of 58 years, 5 months and 18 days, at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana.
..He was a graduate of Kansas Wesleyan College and for the past eighteen years he has been employed as a weighmaster for the Early & Daniel Company at Indianapolis, Indiana. In November 1913, he was united in marriage to Ethel Mae Sallee and to this union were born two children: Doris and Jack Jr. His wife preceded him in death in the year 1921. Those who survive to mourn his passing are the daughter, Mrs. Ernest Mueller, and the son, Jack Bane Jr.; one granddaughter Doris Lanela; two brothers, Harry Bane of Kensington, and Arthur Bane of Smith Center, one sister, Mrs. Eunice Turner of Smith Center, Kansas; a number of other relatives and many friends.
..He was a member of St. John's Lodge No. 113 A. F. & A. M., at Concordia, Kansas, and a member of the Sahara Grotto of Indianapolis, Ind.
..Funeral services were held at the Simmons-Rice Funeral Home in Kensington on Sunday afternoon, July 29th., with Rev. F. M. McDonald in charge and who also delivered the Masonic oration at the graveside at Cedar, Kansas, where interment was made. A number of the Kensington Lodge attended and participated in the service.
