Douglas Arthur Bane, 57, died Dec. 8, 2001, in Norwood, Mo. He was born Oct. 23, 1944, at Phillipsburg to Arthur and Hazel (Walter) Bane.
..Douglas, his brothers Marvin and Maynard, and sisters Joy, Norma and Sharon grew up in Smith Center. In 1962, he married Sharon and they had three children, Lorri, Douglas, Jr., and Rodger.
..On Aug. 28, 1969, Douglas married Rita Furmanek in Waukegan, Ill., and they had three children, Jason, Kristina, and Lisa.
..Douglas served his country in the navy. After leaving the service, he worked for 14 years as an engineer with the C.F. Bean Dredging Company.
..He was preceded in death by his parents and by brother Marvin Bane.
..The survivors are his wife, Rita, of the home in Norwood; three sons, Jason Bane of Slidell, La., Douglas Bane, Jr., of Indianapolis, Ind., and Roger Bane of Anderson, Ind.; three daughters, Kristina Jeansonne of Slidell, Lorri Bontrager of Indianapolis, and Lisa Hawkins of Conway, Ark.; three sisters, Joy Hendrich of Vilonia, Ark., Norma Windscheffel of San Diego, Calif., and Sharon Hodge of Phillipsburg; a brother, Maynard Bane of Goodland; and 10 grandchildren.
..A graveside service was conducted Dec. 13th at Cedar Cemetery with Father Alvin Werth officiating. The casket bearrs were Jason Bane, Sam Hawkins, Gary Bontrager, Roger Bane, Doug Bane, Jr., and J.P. Jeansome.
