Son of John Browning who died in Greene County, Georgia in 1803, leaving a will. William was a co-executor of the will along with his brother, John.
William began purchasing land in Alabama in 1817:

Page 2: on Aug. 11, 1817, William Browning of Greene Co., GA purchased land in Township 16, Range 19, Section 26 (this is probably in what is now Montgomery County, AL)
He bought more land after he arrived in Alabama:

Page 74: on May 6, 1831, William Browning of Lowndes Co. purchased land in Township 15, Range 13, Section 10 (a bit south and west of the property purchased near White Hall, Lowndes County, AL)
From this we know that William was an early pioneer in the state.
William and his wife, Elizabeth Atkinson, had at least nine children: Pamelia Browning; Albert Gallatin Browning; Eliza Browning; Julia Ann Browning; John F. Browning; James Monroe Browning; Egbert Brownina; Henrietta E. Browning; and Emily Browning.
