Doc graduated from Loyola University School of Dentistry, in Chicago. He married his former wife of 33 years, Jessie Noble Cook. Together they had five children; Scott (Sharon), Janet, Gary (Gini), Celeste and Ron (Kara).
He loved sports throughout his life especially golf. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, and played the role of an Eagle Scout in the film "Room For One More" starring Cary Grant. Doc served as a Captain in the Air Force before establishing his first dental practice in Burbank, CA. Later, he moved to Utah, opening dental practices first in Richfield and then Ogden. In his recent years he loved to play bridge where he met his wife Arlene. Together they achieved Bronze Life Master Status.
Doc is also survived by his former wife of 9 years, Cynda Barnson, his wife Arlene and her children, Teresa (Chuck) Schenk, Cherrie Yoder, Troy (Jill) Olsen, Tracy Olsen, 27 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Daniel.
Funeral Services for Doc will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Friends may visit on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services also at the Mortuary.
Interment Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park.
