Birth: Nov. 17, 1815
Death: Oct. 17, 1895

Eliza Ann Herrick was born 17 Nov 1815 in Litchfield, Herkimer, New York to Lemuel Herrick and Sally (Judd) Herrick. Eliza was the 2nd born of 11 children. Her siblings were: Clinton Jeremia Herrick, 14 Jul 1814; Alonzo Jarquin Herrick, 10 Sep 1817; Lucinda Herrick, 18 May 1819; Clinton Herrick, 16 May 1821; Mary Elizabeth Herrick, 10 May 1823; Amanda Herrick, 10 Mar 1825; Lester James Herrick, 14 Dec 1827; Lucy Jane Herrick, 14 Dec 1827; Nelson Herrick, 6 Apr 1829; Diana Herrick, 29 Sep 1832.

Eliza married William Henry Harrison Keyes 18 Apr 1834 in Cambridge, Herkimer, New York. Eliza and Harrison joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints early in the churches beginning. They lived through the violence and persecution of the Mormons in Ohio, Missouri and Illinois, finally being forced to flee their home in Illinois in the dead of winter. She lost her mother 17 Nov 1841 in Nauvoo, Illinois.

During these times they had 10 children: Howard Keyes, 14 Apr 1835 died 15 Nov 1836 in Clay county Missouri; William Henry Keyes, 15 Apr 1837 died 15 Sep 1838 in Caldwell county Missouri; Alma Keyes, 10 Aug 1839 in Adams county, Illinois; Sarah Elizabeth Keyes, 6 Oct 1841; Edward Keyes, 15 Aug 1844; Lyman Keyes, 29 Jul 1847 born in Pisqah, Harrison, Iowa. This was where the Mormons fled to after being forced from the Nauvoo, Illinois area. Alpheretta Ophelia Keyes, 27 Nov 1849 Holt county Missouri, Joseph Franklin Keyes, 29 Jun 1852 in Ogden, Utah; Lemuel Harrison Keyes, Lane county, Oregon; Francis Marion Keyes, 16 Dec 1856 in Lane county, Oregon.

Harrison was serving a mission for the church in Oregon with his family and that was why some of his children were born there. There was hostility against Mormons in Oregon also. While chopping wood at his home, Harrison had the axe shot from his hands from someone he never saw.

Eliza's sister Lucinda married Perry Keyes, Harrison's younger brother and they went through similar experiences until Perry Keyes died on the trail to Salt Lke city. She also lost a son 9 days after losing Perry.

Eliza died 17 Oct 1895 in Ogden Utah and was buried 18 Oct 1895, just 5 months after losing her beloved husband Harrison.
