Rayo Acarez was a journeyman whose jobs included the zinc smelter in Pueblo, CO (1910), the copper smelter in El Paso, Texas, railroad worker in Longwood, Oklahoma, and finally a beet field worker in Saint Vrain, CO. Census records say he emigrated in 1892.
He married Guadalupe Chacon on 30 July 1917 in El Paso. His sister Juana's son Apolonio Acarez Guerrero briefly joined him in Longwood, OK, in 1920, for,railway work, before returning to Smeltertown, El Paso (1920 Census).
