Anna was the daughter of emigrants from the north of Ireland, who settled in New Jersey.
Anna married, July 1, 1779, at the age of 13 years, Lemma Bartholomew (1759-1790) by whom she had 4 children (all sons): Leman (Lemon) (1783-1863), John (b. 1785), Lemma (1787-1873) and Thomas (1789-1877). After Lemma's death, she married, August 4, 1791 at Whitehall, Washington County, New York, Roger Barrett (1766-1838), by whom she had 10 children (6 sons and 4 daughters): David (b. 1791), Joseph (b. 1792), Jane (Ginne) (b. 1795), Anna (1797-1880), David (General David Barrett: 1798-1882), Aaron Smith (b. 1800), Sally (b. 1801), Willson (b. 1803), Polly (b. 1805) and Bartholomew.
