William J. Adams, 76, 500 S. Mitchell St., died 7:45 p.m. Thursday at the Bloomington Hospital.
A native of Bloomington, he was born April 19, 1897, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Winford [sic] C. Adams. He was a member of the Bloomington First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 18, Last Man's club of WWI, veteran of WWI, and was a rural mail carrier for Monroe County Post Office.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Adams who died July 6, 1965.
Survivors include one son, William P. Adams, Troy Mich.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Edward C., Bloomington and James E., Whiting, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Greene and Harrell Chapel with Brother Raymond Hughes presiding. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Military services will be held at the cemetery sponsored by the American Legion Post 18.
