Death: Mar. 12, 1921

Fannie is the daughter of Robert Lee Lumley & Georgia Ann Green. She was first married to Lisha Coleman. Later she was to be married to a man named Thomas Johns. According to news articles, she had left Johns and moved back to her father's home. She was out working one day when Johns approached her and begged her to come back home with him. She refused and he left. Johns returned with a shotgun and shot Fannie 3 times. Some news articles say they were married, some say she was his girlfriend. After shooting Fannie, Johns turned himself in to the sheriff and confessed that that he shot Fannie because if she would not be with him, he did not want her with any other man. Fannie was buried at Ebenezer/Kemp cemetery, but her grave was never marked. Stone was placed March 3, 2013, through donations to the Reuben Thompson Foundation, which provides upkeep for Ebenezer church and cemetery. The Thompson family was one of the founding church families.
** Note: I was able to be present when the stone was placed and had given my input on where I felt that Fannie had been buried. I felt that Fannie was in the grave next to Thomas K. Lumley Sr. and Elizabeth Sellers Lumley, who are Fannie's grandparents. Thomas K. Lumley Sr. and Thomas K. Lumley Jr (Fannie's uncle) were killed in 1920 in a fight with a Hooks father and son in Adrian, GA. (bjl)
