Frank "Kelly" Allen, 92, of Jacksonville, and formerly of Greene County, died Friday morning, April 25, 2003, at Jacksonville Convalescent Center in Jacksonville.
He was born September 8, 1910 in Walkerville Township, the son of Fred and Nellie Rollins Allen. He married Mabel Pence December 1, 1935 and she preceded him in death February 2, 1990.
He is survived by one daughter, Ellen (husband, Paul) Simmons of Jacksonville; one grandson, George Allen Elliott of Jacksonville; one granddaughter, Vicky (husband, Mark) Vedder of Murrayville; one step-grandson, John Paul (wife, Patricia) Simmons of Meredosia; three great-grandsons; and two sisters, Anna Dunlap of White Hall and Doris (husband, Arthur) Cox of Roodhouse.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter; one sister, Martha Patton; and six brothers, Robert Allen, Howard Allen, Lloyd Allen (surviving wife Georgia Lou of Melbourne, Florida), Morris Allen, Harry Allen, and Harvey Allen (surviving wife Anita [husband, Ross] Yoeman of Farmington).
Mr. Allen farmed most of his life in Greene County. He moved to Jacksonville in 1965 and was employed by and retired from Mobil Chemical.
He was a member of Sandridge Baptist Church and the Jacksonville Moose Lodge. Mr. Allen was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2003, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery at Patterson. Memorials are suggested to Hillview Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Foundation
