Eleanor Wirkus was the daughter of Michael and Mary Wirkus of Chicago, Ill. She came to California as a young woman and served in the Navy during WW II. She married Victor C. Besancon after the war, and retired with her husband in California.

"ELEANOR VIVIAN BESANCON , 84, died Monday at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Besancon lived in Moreno Valley five years. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Susanne Lee of Moreno Valley; a grandchild; a brother, George Wirkus of Ridgecrest; and a sister, Shirley Takemoto of Hawaii.
Graveside services will be at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Riverside National Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Moreno Valley Mortuary."
