Reason E. Cash was born Jan. 21, 1855, the 4th son of Richard D. Cash and Rachael Spinks in Williamson County, Illinois. On Dec. 31, 1879, Reason married Sarah Ellen "Dolly" Berry at John Ford's farm in Williamson County. They had eight children: Alice Kelley (Otto), Samuel (Minnie Kelley), Minnie Lance (Charlie), Mattie Brimm (Jim), Lee ( Cora Brimm, Minnie Brimm, Elsie Hill, May Johnson, Lydia Oark), Mina Mae Griffin (Jack), Elbert (Agnus Tucker), Nila Edith Alsup (Gene). The family moved from Williamson County to Anna in order that the children could get work picking fruit and vegetables. Reason was a farmer. Reason was living in Jonesboro at the time of his death on Nov. 1, 1922 from pneumonia. He is buried at Anna City Cemetery, Anna, IL.
