CIVIL WAR VETERAN IS HEART TROUBLE VICTIM
Joseph Blecker, 82, Dies at Home of Sister - Was in Business in Cincinnati, Chillicothe and Midland City.
Joseph Morris Blecker, 82 years of age, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Augusta B. Wright, 126 West Front street early Friday morning. Death resulted from valvular (sic) heart trouble after an illness of about a week. Mrs. Blecker died about four years ago.
Mr. Blecker was a veteran of the Civil war. He was born at New Lisbon, in Columbiana county, Aug. 11, 1833. When a young man he went to Cincinnati. He was a contractor and builder there for a number of years and later opened a photograph gallery. From Cincinnati he went to Midland City where he served for some time as postmaster after having been engaged in the dry goods business. He was later in business at Chillicothe.
Mr. Blecker was one of the "hundred day men" who made the famous stand against the rebel forces at the time of the raid on Cincinnati.
Mr. Blecker came to Findlay about a year and a half ago. He made his home with sisters, Miss Anna E. Blecker, of West Front street, and Mrs. Wright, at whose home he died.
Short funeral services will be held Sunday morning at 9 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Wright. The body will be taken to Midland City for burial. Dr. H. C. Jameson will be in charge of the services. (Findlay Morning Republican, Feb. 9, 1918)
