CHARLOTTE ANN CASEY

Charlotte Ann Casey, 68, passed away Saturday, Oct 28, 2006 in her daughter's home in Melbourne, Fla. Charlotte moved to Melbourne one year ago from Lee's Summit.

Born in Holton, Kan., she graduated from Englewood High School, Englewood Colo., in 1956.

While attending nursing school at Colorado University in Boulder, Colo., she met and married Craig L. Freerksen in 1958. She gave birth to daughter, Jerri, in 1960 and a son, Ronald, in 1962 and moved to Lee's Summit at that time.

Many years later and after significant life changes, Charlotte met and married Homer Casey, adding to the family with sons, Dale and Lee; and daughters, Nona and Shannon. Charlotte and Homer eventually moved to Apache Junction, Ariz., and he preceded her in death in 1998. She returned to Lee's Summit in 2002.

Very "outdoor oriented," Charlotte grew up on a farm and continued through life enjoying the outdoor experience. She camped, hiked, canoed, rode motorcycles and skied, after which she would render paintings and sculptures depicting the activities and wildlife she observed.

She will be remembered for her sweet sensitivity to everyone around her, her laughter and smiles, her curiosity about the world, her creativity and her stubbornness to succeed in whatever was presented to her.

Missing her deeply are Jerri, Dave, Kaitlin, and Ashley (Whitworth) Guseman of Melbourne, Fla.; Ron, Sandy, Sheldon and Miranda Freerksen of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lee, Tracey, Josh and Megan Casey of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Shannon and Matthew Casey of Independence, Mo.; Nona Hugar, Aaron Hugar and family of Independence; Heather Hosmann and family of Blue Springs, Mo.; Mary Harris, Mary Lynne and Lee DeMarinis of Tucson, Ariz.; Bill Perkey of Alexandria, Va.; and many more family, extended family and friends across the world who will feel the loss and cherish the memories.

A celebration of Life Memorial will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 at the Silent Unity Chapel, Unity Village, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Unity.
