Carl Barth was the son of Richard C. Barth and Emma Sakewitz. They were married November 29, 1881 in Travis County, Texas. They were divorced after Carl was born.
Carl's mother, Emma Sakewitz, was born in Riesigk, Anhalt-Dessau, Germany in March 1863; she was the daughter of Gottlieb Wilhelm Sakewitz and Henrietta Stolze. She immigrated to Texas in April,1881 with her parents and 3 siblings. Emma Sakewitz married Gottfried Diedering in Kerr County. He also was born in Germany and had arrived in Texas in 1881.
On June 16, 1900, Charlie [Barth] was enumerated on the census in Manor, Travis County, Texas, in the Gottfried Diedering household, which included Charlie, age 16, stepson of Gottfried Diedering, with his 37 year old mother, Emma, and seven Diedering half-siblings.
In December 1906, Carl Barth married Ludwina Wendland, daughter of Herman J. Wendland and Mary Haberlein, of Germany; she was born 25 Sept 1879, in Cele, Travis County, Texas. She and Carl had one son, Elmer, born in 1909.
In 1910, 26 year old Carl Barth was a farmer, with wife Ludwina and one year old son Elmer, living in the dwelling next to Ludwina's parents.
Carl died when his son was barely 2 years old. Ludwina (Wendland) Barth lived 50 years after the death of her husband. She is buried next to Carl.
