Henry was the 3rd son of 4 children born to German immigrants, Maria Fink and Ignatius Wehner. He married Anna M. Krebs and they had 4 children. The 3 surviving to adulthood were Rose Wehner Winkelman, Marie Wehner Shortt, and William J. Wehner. The family house was on Fairmount Ave. in East Baltimore.

During his early life, Henry worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad then, as many others during the Great Depression, he lost his job there. Fortunately, he was able to obtain employment with the Esskay Meat Packing Co. and stayed with them until his untimely death.

He was also an accomplished musician and performed with a band that included his two brothers, at ballrooms in Gwynn Oak Amusement Park and Tolchester, and various other local venues. In addition, he excelled at carpentry and created a Christmas garden in his basement that was so popular with the neighborhood children that he maintained it year-long for their enjoyment.

Ironically, at age 50, he had a fatal injury when he tripped going down his basement stairs.
