"Ruth" Mae Guthrie married Elbert Clarence Lawhon, Sr. who was born October 9, 1894 in Craighead County, Brookland, Arkansas and died March 7, 1931 in El Paso County, El Paso, Texas. They had one child named Elbert Clarence Lawhon, Jr. who was born in 1921 and died May 31, 2004 in Dallas County, Richardson, Texas.

"Ruth" Mae Guthrie Lawhon then married "Frank" Brooks Harper, born August 19, 1907 in Dunklin County, Gibson, Missouri and died October 3, 2000 in Garland County, Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, the son of "Marvin" H. Harper, Sr. and "Minnie" Belle Brooks Harper. "Ruth" Mae Guthrie Lawhon married "Frank" Brooks Harper on December 3, 1942 at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Abilene, Texas while "Frank" Brooks Harper was stationed at Camp Barkeley during WWII. After WWII "Frank" Brooks Harper and his wife "Ruth" Mae Guthrie Lawhon Harper moved to Garland County, Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas where "Frank" Brooks Harper set up a real estate business.

"Frank" Brooks Harper adopted the grandson of "Ruth" Mae Guthrie Lawhon Harper, William Brooks (Brooksey) Harper who was born on September 1, 1943, the son of Elbert Clarence Lawhon, Jr, the son of "Ruth" Mae Guthrie Lawhon Harper by her first husband, Elbert Clarence Lawhon, Sr.
