Josephine Ransburg Achimore, 88, a former Honolulu business owner, died Sept. 2 in Fayetteville, N.Y.

Achimore operated Cardinal Services, a Kakaako direct-mail business, in the 1960s and 1970s. She was a member of several Hawaii travel industry and community organizations.

She lived in Kamuela, Hawaii, for several years before moving to the mainland in 1990.

She was born in Portland, Ore. She served in the WAVES, the U.S. Navy women's reserve, during World War II and moved to Hawaii in 1946 with her late husband, a Navy transport captain.

She is survived by sons Alexander of Davis, Calif., and Stephen of Fayetteville, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and a cousin, Charles Schuster of Hilo.

The ashes will be interred in Honolulu. No services are planned. Memorial gifts may be made to the North Hawaii Community Hospital in Kamuela.

Josephine R. Achimore of Fayetteville, died early Friday morning at home.
Born October 15, 1916 in Portland, Oregon, she lived more than half her life in Hawaii where she will be buried. A Navy veteran of WWII, she worked in a communications unit in San Francisco where she met her husgand, Paul. a Navy transport captain. She is survived by her sons, Alex Achimore; wife, Judith; and grandsons, Ian and David of Davis, CA, and Stephen Achimore, wife, Linda of Fayetteville; and granddaughter, Deborah Cote, husband, Michael; and great-grandson, Wyatt of San Jose, CA.
