Master Mason Orient Lodge No. 126 A.F. and A.M. at Elizabeth, NJ; Royal Arch Mason in Corsicana Chapter No. 41 R.A.M. July 6, 1877; dubbed and created a Knight Templar in Bertrand DuGuesclin Commandery No. 14 stationed at Corsicana TX April 17, 1879 and served as Eminent Commander of this Commandery.

Came to Corsicana in 1874 and was in the grocery business with Charles H. Allyn.

Was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church and at different times, served as warden.

Was married to Miss Dora Triplett of Corsicana and had two sons and a daughter.
