Savva J. Barberides of Newtown passed through death into eternal life on Monday, July 7, 2008, at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown, surrounded by his loving family. He was 77.

He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Anne E. Reid Barberides.

At his Long Beach Island home, he engaged in swimming, fishing and boating, once saving three lives with the help of his son and son-in-law when a small boat capsized in rough ocean waters. He was a respected member of the Trenton, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and an active supporter of the Anchor Presbyterian Church in Newtown.

Col. Scott J. and Eileen Barberides of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Paula G. and Thomas Ferrentino of Pipersville. He is also survived by his sisters, Athena Treptow of Atlanta, Ga., and Bess Petry of Newtown; his brother-in-law, James Stephan of Ewing, N.J.; and his 20 cherished grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Anchor Presbyterian Church, 980 Durham Road, Newtown. Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro.
