Paul Dayton Anderson, 82, of Elkview moved peacefully to his heavenly residence on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after a long illness.

He was born May 28, 1925, and was a lifelong resident of Elkview.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Paterson (DD 392) in the Asiatic Pacific. He was an avid outdoorsman, good husband, dad, papaw and uncle.

He was the first employee of Fidelity Storage Company, General Corporation, Charleston, where he retired as general manager, and was a member and former deacon of Elkview Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Fred, and daughter-in-law, Beverly Anderson.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Helen June Anderson; son, Jerry and wife, Meirlyn "Kip," of Elkview; and daughters, Sharon Mannion and husband, David, of Lake Wylie, S.C., and Vickie Thatcher and husband, David, of Pomona, Calif.

He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, family, friends and his brothers and sisters in Christ.

The family is deeply indebted to his personal and loving caregivers while at home, Carolyn Anderson, Conya "Sissy" Huffman, Amy Ashworth and Jo Ann Rogers; also to the administrators, nurses and aides at Meadowbrook Acres and Hubbard Hospice House.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 18, at Elkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby M. Sizemore and the Rev. David Keeney officiating. Burial will follow in Jarrett Cemetery, Elkview, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Elkview Baptist Church and one hour prior to the service, also at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Meadowbrook Acres, Hubbard Hospice House or the Alzheimer's Association of West Virginia
