James Fitzgerald and Mary O'Keefe married 1820, IRE. They "Emigrated" 1828 from County Cork, IRE. James was 34 and Mary 30. James applied for the "Application/Petition for Citizenship" 10-14-1840 in Bombay, Franklin, NY and he and Mary are buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ft. Covington, Franklin, NY where they lived most of their days. They had 13 children. James d. 01-16-1870 of Apolexy (stroke).
1870 Census:Mary moved in with her son John in Bombay, Franklin, NY.
She died: 01-24-1886.
Before "emigrating" four children were born in Ireland. 1. James b. 1822 d. circa 1843
2. Garrett H. b. 1825 d. 12-27-1871 in Ft. Wallace, Wallace, KS but, lived in Salina, Kankakee, IL. He m. Emily Vining 1853 and had two children. Emily died and he re-married to Eliza Barry 1859 in Kankakee, IL and they had four children.

The Fitzgerald and Barry's married into each other families several times making them double cousins. Mary Fitzgerald had a daughter, Alice that married a Robidoux and their daughter, Elizabeth Agnes was the only woman in the encampment while getting the railroad thru. So, they named the Town after her in Elizabeth, Colorado.
